HENRY COUNTY — This is a music weekend, plain and simple. Christian hip-hop fills Relevant Church in Locust Grove Friday night. Saturday brings a jazz lineup to the Stockbridge Amphitheater and a Bob Seger tribute to McDonough, back to back. An art opening, a squirrel-sized art trail, a new mural downtown, goat yoga, and a 10-mile hike round out the rest. And if you’re willing to drive into the city, Atlanta is having a moment too, with J. Cole, The Beach Boys, Tori Amos, and Lionel Richie all on stage this weekend. Wherever you land, Henry County or downtown Atlanta, there’s a show for it.

McDonough
📍 Keys Ferry St side of New Sole, corner of Keys Ferry & Macon St, downtown McDonough
There’s new public art in downtown McDonough, and it’s worth a walk-by. The mural depicts the No. 7 train, a nod to the historic Old McDonough railroad, alongside an American flag, the historic McDonough courthouse, a vintage red tractor, old gas pumps, butterflies, a figure in traditional dress, and the Main Street McDonough logo tucked in the corner. Basically, if McDonough history had a highlight reel, it’s all painted on one wall.

📍 1334 GA-138, Stockbridge | 🕐 Tue–Sat 11 AM–9 PM • Sun 12–7 PM
Texas-style BBQ done right, right here in Stockbridge. Disruption slow-smokes their brisket, ribs, and pulled pork the way it’s supposed to be done. The Sampler Plate is the move for a first visit, but the brisket is where the real story is. Come for the food. The communal tables and modern rustic space make it worth lingering. Henry County has no shortage of BBQ spots. Disruption is one of the best.
📍 1115 McDonough Pl, McDonough | ☎ (470) 507-0323 | ⭐ 4.7 Google · Nearly 500 reviews
Dominican and Italian fusion done right. Stewed oxtail, empanadas, fried plantains, natural juices alongside pasta and Italian plates. Casual dining, takeout available. Cozy, hip, and seriously underrated. One of McDonough’s most beloved spots.

New York-style pies with the real fold, proper crust, and toppings that hold up. Big slices, cold beer, and a room worth sitting in. A Henry County staple with the hours to match your weekend.
📍 Historic McDonough Square | Southern · Fine Dining · Historic Square
McDonough’s most talked-about dining room sits right on the historic square. Pandora blends Southern soul and Lowcountry heritage into something that feels elevated without losing its roots. The kind of spot that reminds you why eating local matters.

Hampton’s top-rated restaurant for a reason. Bay Breeze does seafood right, with generous combo plates, fresh shrimp, and a casual atmosphere that earns its regulars.
📍 656 Peeksville Rd, Locust Grove | ☎ (678) 272-8688 | 🕐 Thu–Sat 7:30 AM–4 PM • Sun 9 AM–3 PM
Formerly known as Heaven Cafe, and the name change didn’t slow anything down. Southern Fusion blends soul food roots with unexpected combinations. The collard green egg rolls alone are worth the trip to Peeksville Road. Crab cakes, generous portions, warm service. Brunch and lunch hours only, so plan accordingly.

“Hip-hop gospel in Locust Grove. Jazz and a Seger tribute in the same Saturday. A 10-mile hike Sunday morning. And if that's not enough, Atlanta's got J. Cole and Lionel Richie waiting. Henry County didn’t just show up to the music weekend, it helped headline it.”
